2009 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
THE WINE
The blending of multiple varieties and appellations contributes a vast complexity to this bottling. Syrah and Grenache from San Luis Obispo are included in the blend to deliver a modern flavor profile and lend a luscious fruit-forward character as a soft counterpoint to the Napa County Cabernet and other Bordeaux varieties.

THE WINEMAKING
The fruit for this blend was
harvested from mid-September through late
October to allow each varietal to reach its full
potential. Grapes were carefully sorted then sent to
temperature controlled tanks for fermentation,
with pump-overs performed two to three times
daily to fully extract the rich flavors. The finished
wine was aged in 50% new French oak for
seventeen months prior to bottling.
THE FLAVOR PROFILE
A complex nose of black
cherry, ripe blackberry and stewed cranberry swirl
around touches of cinnamon bark and dark cocoa
powder. Leading with silky red cherry and bright
cassis notes, the velvety palate also displays
intriguing hints of sandalwood, cherry cola and
toasted vanilla, backed by fine tannins that enliven
the smooth, lengthy finish.
