OUR WINES
2013 Pinot Noir
The Wine
Sourced from diverse vineyards located on the western edge of the Central Coast of California, the defining characteristic is coastal influence. San Luis Obispo County grapes from the west side of Paso Robles and pristine vineyards in Edna Valley provide a base of dense, black fruit and spice notes. With its loamy soils and cool maritime climate, Monterey County adds impeccable balance, layered red berry fruit and clean minerality.

Varietal
100% Pinot Noir
Appellation
94% San Luis Obispo, 6% Monterey
Vintage Notes
San Luis Obispo
A warmer-than-average growing season with consistently dry weather led to an early harvest at optimal ripeness, yielding bright and balanced fruit.
Monterey
The persistent morning fog and long, mild growing season allowed the fruit longer hang time, resulting in excellent color extraction and bright acidity.
The Winemaking
Picked by hand in the cool of the coastal night, these grapes were hand-sorted before being destemmed with a high percentage of whole berries into stainless steel open-top fermentors. After a short cold soak, the fermentation took place with peak temperatures of 82° F to retain fresh fruit aromatics. The wine was then carefully transferred to French oak barriques where it aged for 8 months prior to bottling.
The Flavor Profile
A dazzling bouquet of juicy red cherry and ripe strawberry fruit woven amongst touches of dried rose petal and ground nutmeg rise from the glass. Brilliant acidity and impeccable balance characterize the full, ripe palate, filled with flavors of supple red raspberry and cherry pie filling, lingering through the velvety finish and accented by hints of briar, cinnamon stick and brown sugar.
